In accordance with their its ‘Lead the Way’ ethos and environmental policies Toyota South Africa, in conjunction with Vuswa Fleet Services, recently donated four Toyota Hilux bakkies to the South African National Parks (SANParks). The hand-over ceremony was held at the SANParks head office in Groenkloof National Park, with executives from Toyota SA, Vuswa Fleet Services and SANParks in attendance.

Addressing attendees at the hand-over, Vice President of Toyota SA, Mr Len von Graevenitz thanked Vuswa for inviting Toyota SA to join them in this initiative. “We are happy that we will, in this manner, be engaged in conservation activities and SANParks can count on the reliability of Toyota’s Hilux which is Beyond Tough,” said Von Graevenitz.

Laurence Savage, Managing Director of Avis Fleet Services described the long relationship they have with both SANParks and Toyota SA relaying anecdotes of meetings forged in difficulty that ultimately grew these partnerships into the formidable force they are today. “This gesture will give Vuswa and Toyota SA an opportunity to emphasise that we are a part of local conservation,” said Savage referring to the striking decals with very visible Toyota, Vuswa and SANParks branding.

With the current state of the economy and its direct effect on the motor industry, Dr David Mabunda, Chief Executive of SANParks expressed his deepest gratitude to the partners for such a generous offer at this critical time. “We are grateful that our partners have reached into their pockets at this difficult time in global economics to provide these vehicles to SANParks. We intend to put them to good use and assure you that such a great investment in conservation can only be for the good of everyone,” said Dr. Mabunda.

The four vehicles will be distributed to parks identified as having the most urgent need for them.
