SANParks continues to mourn the tragic loss of two tourists whose bodies were discovered in the Pafuri section of the Kruger National Park (KNP) on Fr...
14h00 Saturday 10 December 2005: After a fast-extinguished flare-up this morning the fire at Suikerbossie is out. 33 Firefighters from the Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) and Working on Fire (WoF) will monitor the area over the weekend. Approximately 450 hectares of Park and private land were burned but no buildings were damaged.
Currently no further fires have been reported in the Table Mountain National Park.
Table Mountain National Park management extends their appreciation to the hardworking men and women of the TMNP, City and WoF teams who have fought fires tirelessly in difficult conditions over the past two-days. Members of the public are asked to exercise caution as we enter into a hot, dry season. Fires should only be lit in designated braai areas.
Should the current status around fires within the TMNP change I will send a further update.
