Media Release: Take out camping gear and head to a National Park this Spring
Today South African National Parks (SANParks) announced that it would like to wish all its patrons a happy Spring Day as its employees celebrate the first day of spring at its Head Office, Groenkloof National Park.
SANParks Head of Communications, wanda mkutshulwa, said: “With the days getting warmer it is an ideal opportunity for all South Africans to take the time to visit their national parks.”
“We want to say the time has come for you to put out your camping gear. Drop the bulky wardrobe of winter with style and come enjoy some of the most beautiful landscapes South Africa has to offer” she said.
Camping is increasingly becoming one of the most favourite activities in South Africa’s national parks, having grown by 11,7 % in the previous financial year whilst in the 2008/2009 financial year it had only grown by 1,3%. “It is for this reason that today I would like to thank those camping visitors who have taken advantage of the wonderful winter weather in national parks like the Kruger, Mapungubwe and Kgalagadi; and especially those adventurous souls who have braved the cold in some of our colder national parks.”
“To those who have never gone camping, we would like to say the time has come for you to consider the wonderful and rustic experience of feeling in one with nature. If that doesn’t convince you, maybe knowing that this is probably the most affordable holiday you’ll ever have apart from visiting relatives will convince you. Take a sho’t left to the wild, I dare you”, concluded mkutshulwa.
