Day visitors to the Kruger National Park (KNP) are urged to book their visit in advance to avoid disappointment.

Day visitors to the Kruger National Park (KNP) are urged to book their visit in advance to avoid disappointment.

“All our gates will be enforcing their daily visitor gate quota, particularly during the public holidays this Festive Season,” said the KNP’s HOD Public Relations and Communication Mr William Mabasa.

KNP gate quotas are calculated based on the amount of tourist facilities in that particular area to avoid overcrowding, which is always a distinct possibility during peak seasons.

Visitors are urged to book their day visits to the KNP via Central Reservations (012 428 9111) and are reminded that these bookings are only valid up until 09:00 on the day of the booking at the gate specified.

The KNP’s Tourism and Marketing Department expects the busiest days to be December 16, 17, 25 and 26, 2007 and January 1, 2008 and it is advised that day visitors make extra effort to book their day visits for those particular days.

Gate quotas only apply to day visitors and do not affect visitors with overnight bookings.

“Visitors are also reminded of the rules and regulations of the KNP, with particular emphasis on littering, loud noises, speeding, getting out of their vehicles and late arrivals at camp and entrance gates. KNP rangers and Protection Services will be on the lookout for anyone breaking these rules and a system of zero tolerance is in place already,” Mr Mabasa concluded.

Rule breakers and other incidents can be reported on the KNP’s Emergency Call Centre on 013 735 4325.
