The Honorary Rangers of the Addo Elephant National Park are organising their 3rd annual golf day on 6 June 2008 at Humewood Golf Club in Port Elizabeth. All funds raised will assist towards the further improvement of facilities and conservation support work at the Addo Elephant National Park, the prime tourism destination in the Eastern Cape.
The Addo Elephant National Park, situated only 75 kilometres from Port Elizabeth offers visitors a wonderful opportunity to see elephants at close range as well as the beauty of the kudu, buffalo and other mammal and bird species, including lion or black rhino if you're in the right place at the right time.
The Park now covers over 164000 hectares, stretching from the Karoo near Somerset East crossing the Zuurberg Mountains to the coast between Sundays River and Bushmans River Mouth and includes the St Croix and Bird Islands. Home to the “Big Seven” - which includes Southern right whales and the great white shark in the marine area – the Park offers visitors a wide range of accommodation and eco-activities.
Funds raised by the Honorary Ranger’s Golf Day will enable the Park to fund research as well as the upgrade of facilities for the benefit of all visitors to this wonderful conservation area. National Parks fulfil an essential role of conserving our natural and cultural heritage, both for present and future generations and provide an experience of life on the ‘wild’side!
Prizes of luxury accomodation at Gorah Elephant Camp, Nguni River Lodge, and Intsomi Forest Lodge, all situated within the Addo Elephant National Park are up for grabs. The value of all these prizes, and others, makes this one of the most prestigious golf days in the Eastern Cape. In keeping with the “Wild” theme of the golf day, a popular venison spitbraai and salads will be served at the prize-giving.
Companies and individuals are invited to enter a 4-ball at R1000 per team and/or sponsor a tee or green for slightly less. Here is your opportunity to associate your company (or yourself) with the conservation efforts of the Addo Elephant National Park. As always, donations of prizes are also very welcome.
