Good news,I received yesterday evening a mail from Lucy
Thanks again Lesego for your help
I'm surprised too and don't understand why we can't say "In the memory of " if it's a memorial bench...
Afraid Kruger becomes a huge memorial :hmz:

As Shakespeare said "A name, what is a name"

will just have to be inventive/creative/grammatically correct - and say/mean/describe the same thing! :o

In memory of / Remembering/ honouring/ never forgotten/with thoughts of/ thinking of

Also very unclear to me, we are all awaiting a reply, maybe Nkulu should enquire and place the reply.

Thanks Lion Queen, appreciated, if necessary I will esculate (like I did the initial enquires  )but I have personally decided to ask all his nearest and dearest to come up with something original and we will put it to the vote. My favourite so far is Listen to the Fish Eagle with his name and dates

I do not have the energy to argue the "in Memory of" suggest we find alternative wording ie

In memory of = Remembering/ honouring/ never forgotten/with thoughts of/ thinking of

After a few weeks I got a reply from a very friendly lady called Nelisiwe, so my memorial bench is also under way...

Now the we just have to decide what to put on the plaque

Why not get creative and humorous.

How about "If you sit on this bench and feel somebody try to push you off, it could be XXXX who loved this area".

After all, anyone who gets out of their car near Skukuza could well be haunted by a ghost with a serious comb-over. My dad - Jerry Hattrick.

It seems as if erecting a memorial bench has become a major chore

Quote:
I unfortunately have to express my terrible disappointment on arriving at Nkuhlu on the 10th August, only to find no bench has been erected.
The pieces were lying at the back, but the bench was not erected as “they forgot to bring the screws”.
Please note the funds were transferred April 2013 and 3.5 months later there is still no bench.
My daughter planned a trip end July and I was in Kruger mid August, and both of us had to experience disappointment.

I was also amazed to see several benches parked back to back (one facing the view, with another facing inside) at Mondolozi.
