Hi Joubie,

The info I got specify max 8 people per site and max 3 vehicles per site. The cost will be as follows:

ENTRANCE: BWP 20.00 per person per day
CAMPING: BWP 30.00 per person per day
VEHICLE: BWP 4.00 per vehicle per day

You will be required to pay the entrance fee even if you have a Wild card and will not enter or exit through Botswana.

(First time posting to this forum)
Could anyone give an update on the roadworks between 2R and Nossob?
I don't mind the detours/old/new road, but not keen on the construction trucks going up & down.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum groenlandy.

The road between 2R & KijKij was completed some time ago and was a pleasure to drive in April - I struggled to recognise Skiddy Corner - but I haven't heard of construction trucks, except maybe for the Rooiputs lodge, but that looked near completion in April.

A quick question - is the booking information for Botswana still correct?

Hi, I have a couple of questions. Hope you can help!

We will be staying in Mabua no3 for 4 nights, then we move to Nossob.

1. We are only one car. Will that be a problem?
2. Do we have to let Nossob know that we will be coming from Mabua?
3. Any extra advice will be grate!
Issi

Hi issi,

In terms of your questions, my advice would be to let Nossob know to expect you, always good in case of emergency, the area is so remote that it would be good to let them know prior to your arrival. In terms of being the only vehicle, we did Mabua to Nossob in November last year, also one vehicle, no problem. Remember there is NO cell reception at all, so be well prepared in terms of enough fuel, tyre punctures etc, take enough water and food!

There were one or two tricky dunes on the way to Nossob, but with enough momentum and a bit of skill, not a hassle.

Enjoy, it is a spectacular drive, takes quite long though, leave yourself enough time.

Hi issi
1. I think many have done this with one vehicle only. I wouldn't. We have just returned after a thoroughly enjoyable stay. However, we did need to rescue 2 girls , their vehicle had broken down! No vehicles had passed them all day and while taking them from where they had broken down to the main entrance gate in Mabua (another 90 mins drive) nobody passed us and there was no likelihood of that either as it was already becoming too late for them to arrive at Matopi before dark. Too long a story to tell here, however, it was alarming to say the least

2. I'm not sure if I have understood your question properly :?
Your paid for reservation would be confirmation, Nossob would be expecting you. You cannot arrive without a confirmed reservation.

3. A very broad request as there is so much to know about Mabua. If you have not heard much about the Mabua campsites is a good idea to go online and read plenty of experiences had by many.(you possibly have already done so ) We did and were therefore well prepared what to expect. Google was great , it leads you to many trip reports not necessarily on this forum. So my extra advise would be to read a lot. If you are more specific in what you need answered and want to ask here on this forum I would with pleasure answer..that's of course if I know

Enjoy, wish it was us going there again :D
