I agree with PietSkiet. Pangolin a bit too difficult to add to the Forum 5. The list should be realistic and it should be reasonably possible to see the Forum 5 in one day.

So far the popular votes for the Forum 5 are:

Wild dog
Cheetah
Sable
Roan
Black rhino
Caracal
Aardvark
Otter
Porcupine

Also a vote here and there for AWC and Serval.

Lets see how voting progresess and how the list will look by the end of the weekend.

Hi all,

Mine is (not in any specific order):

1. Black Rhino (never seen one in Kruger)
2. Pel's Fishing Owl (saw one once at Pafuri - thanks Frank)
3. Honey Badger (in the veld, not in the camps)
4. Pangolin
5. A true Tusker

22-23 Sept: Nossob
24-26 Sept: Twee Rivieren

For what it is worth:

Crowned Eagle
Cape Vulture (seen once many years ago in KNP)
Brown Hyena
Caracal
more than 1 Sable
(there used to be a small herd near Pretoriuskop in the 80's but they seem to have vanished)

Great thread thanks.

For me:

Pangolin (saw two different ones in Oct 12 but slow to react!)
Black Rhino (again seen once previously, but only a fleeting glimpse)
Serval
Caracal
A big cat kill take place
Pels Fishing Owl

I must caveat these by saying that any sighting or animal is still a thrill even after 30+ visits to Kruger. Just the thrill and enjoyment of being in that special place and not knowing what is around the next corner or what you will see when you wake up. I have always been incredibly lucky with sightings whilst there, even travelling alone and never forget to say a big thank you at the end of each day.
Roll on 2nd Nov when I am back again......

Mine would be the following that I was not fortunate enough to see during my recent visit:

Cheetah
Aardvark
Wild Dogs
Caracal
Visitor's behaving at sightings.....

Couple of Lion's were lying in the road when some idiots trying to get past nearly drove over some of them. :sniper: They should be shot on location!

So, we are discussing and debating a Forum 5 (Maybe a seldom seen 7) and after 2 pages of contributions, things are looking like this:

Pangolin 12 votes
Caracal 12 votes
Aardvark 9 votes
Wild Dog 8 votes
Black Rhino 8 votes

Forum 5 as things stand:

Sable 6 votes
Cheetah 5 votes
Roan 5 votes
Brown Hyena 4 votes
African Crowned Eagle 3 votes
Honey Badger 3 Votes
Porcupine 3 votes
African Wild Cat 3 votes
Serval 3 votes
Otter 3 votes

I was sure that Sable and Cheetah would be much higher, but it is great to see different people’s preferences as to what they think a great sighting is.

Of course this is not official, just a bit of fun and I hope that I am not stepping on anyone’s toes.
