South African National Parks (SANParks) received a Hangar from South African Airlink meant for anti-poaching operations in the north of the world famous Kruger National Park (KNP). The event to mark the official handover was held at the Phalaborwa Gateway to Kruger Airport on the 23rd of July 2015.

The AFB Southern Cross Trail Run starts on the 8th - 10th August 2015. The trail run is a 3-day challenge. Day 1 goes through the Outeniqua Mountains, beautiful trails through the indigenous Forest on Day 2 and finishing off on a rugged coastline run on Day 3.

Friday, July 17 - Kruger National Park (KNP) Management and staff devoted their own time to donating blankets they knitted themselves and handed them over to the kids at Siphephelakhona Community Centre in Nyongane, a village outside Phabeni Gate in honour of the former President, the late Nelson Mandela. This year’s theme for the Nelson Mandela International Day is “Take action – Inspire Change – Make Every Day a Mandela Day”.

Following a highly unusual incident recently of a leopard attack on a tourist guide working for a private Open Safari Vehicle (OSV) company operating in the Kruger National Park (KNP), South African National Parks (SANParks) said in a statement that there was no fault with the conduct of the guide.

This according to SANParks: Head of Communications, Paul Daphne, who said the Environmental Media Contribution to Conservation award category of the Kudu Awards is presented to conservation/environmental journalists/media entities that have been considered to have conducted their reporting in a socially responsible manner and have also given extensive and balanced reporting on conservation related matters.

There are approximately 34 events held annually in the Knysna section of the GRNP, including cycling races, trail runs, hiking, swimming competitions in the estuary, boating and vessel sporting events.

A field guide working for one of the Open Safari Vehicle (OSV) companies operating in the Kruger National Park was attacked by a leopard on Thursday, 2 July 2015 during a game drive. The incident happened just after 13:00 at Alfa Loop on the H4-1 road just outside Skukuza Camp.

Following an extended three week operation in mountainous terrain and through a number of river valleys, a three year old male lion that escaped from the Karoo National Park outside Beaufort West has been successfully recaptured.
