Warning: People to not cross fast flowing rivers in the forestry areas (GRNP)
SANParks managers of the Garden Route National Park have requested citizens to not cross fast flowing rivers in the forestry areas of the Park. "The Piesang River in the Knysna Forest is flooded, so are most rivers" according to Johan de Klerk (Area Manager of the Knysna section).

Media Release: Exciting planned upgrades will not hamper visitor experience
The very first upgrades in Tsitsikamma as part of the +R 17 million project will start with the entrance gate and administration building. Good news is visitors will not be affected by this at all. "The plan is to vacate the existing office building before December" explains Area Manager for Tsitsikamma, Lesley-Ann Meyer. Roll out of the Project will be the new Office Block closest to reception, then once that’s completed, work on the entrance gate will begin.

Media Release: Post-fire rehabilitation update in Table Mountain National Park
Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) takes pleasure in announcing the re-opening of certain burnt areas which had been closed off to the public. The areas had to be closed off following the March fires for the safety of visitors, and to allow natural systems to recover. Restoration work started immediately after the fire with attention to both restoring access as well as the natural elements. TMNP Management was encouraged by the general compliance to these closures and appreciates this patience with the restricted access. Now, five months after the fire, fynbos recovery is showing great progress and mountain lovers can once again look forward to their favourite hikes and to see the wonders of fynbos.
Garden Route National Park Awards 2015
The 2015 Garden Route National Park Awards were held at the Simola Hotel on the 20th of August 2015. SANParks introduced Regional Awards in an effort to not only motivate its staff, but to recognize and honour those who commit themselves to a matchless level of excellence in performing their duties. In attendance was the Deputy Mayor of Knysna, Esme Edge, Mrs South Africa contestant, Jackie Wilson Louwe (who was a co-Master of Ceremony with a Senior Marine Ranger for Knysna-Owen Govender), Managing Executive of Parks, Dr. Mvusy Songelwa, Honorary Rangers from Knysna (Chairperson, Bayden Hall) and other distinguished guests.

A male lion from Addo Elephant National Park (AENP) which went on a short walkabout (possibly in search of love) onto a neighbouring property has been safely returned to the park.
Media Release: KNP helicopter lands safely after engine failure
One of the Kruger National Park (KNP) helicopters with three park officials on board went looking for two rhinos, which were believed to be outside the Park west of Orpen Gate yesterday (18 August 2015). The female rhino and her calf were observed outside the park; and a helicopter was dispatched to locate the animals in order to guide the Game Capture team on the ground.
