6 of the 7 water samples collected from Swartvlei were compliant and lower than the Department of Water Affairs’ permitted 500 mark for recreational sites. The Swartvlei mouth was compliant at 51 per 100 milliliters. SANParks has thus removed signs warning people not to swim at the estuary’s mouth. General Manager of the Garden Route National Park (SANParks), Jill Bunding-Venter, says the rest of the sample readings were (also compliant):

South Africa today officially handed over the torch for the World Parks Congress to Australia as the hosts of the 6th World Parks Congress, being held in Sydney from today (12 November 2014) to 19 November 2014.
The Garden Route National Park was proclaimed in March 2009, including the then Tsistikamma NP; Wilderness NP; Knysna Lakes and indigenous forest, covering an area of 160 000 km.

Survival equipment to the value of R1.5 million was handed over at a ceremony in Phalaborwa on 31 October 2014. Augrabies Falls National Park (AFNP) is once again home to the Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon (KAEM) taking place from 1 November to 7 November 2014. The race, a grueling multi-stage running event that covers about 250 kilometers, is celebrating its 15th year of existence.
Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) announced their annual tariff increases which are required to keep up with the increased cost of managing the national park. The annual rate increase took effect on Saturday, 1 November 2014.

A unanimous decision undertaken is to find the sources of reported E.coli counts at the mouth of the estuary. ‘It is important to find the source of the problem and treat that’ according to SANParks.
South African National Parks (SANParks) today announced the arrest of six suspected poachers and the fatal wounding of two others in two separate operations. In the first operation, Crocodile Bridge Rangers made contact with three suspected rhino poachers. In the ensuing pursuit, two were fatally wounded and the third managed to escape back into Mozambique. A hunting rifle, ammunition and other hunting equipment was recovered on the scene.
And the discovery prompts birders to review old photos and it is discovered that it was recorded and found in SANParks, in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in August 2001.

SANCCOB (Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds) and South African National Parks (SANParks) celebrated APAD with a unique penguin festival and a star-studded benefit auction in aid of their African penguin conservation projects.
