Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

as you can tell by my formal greeting and my post count. I'm new here... :)

I just have a little query, when driving in cape town I see all these cut down alien trees lying in our parks and think its quite sad that they just rot away. So i started thinking if it would not be possible to take these and breath some life into them again by turning them into taylor made furniture items. :hmz:
could somebody please point me in the right direction or tell me if this is even possible?

thanks in advance.

Hi Woodologysa :yaya:

Welcome to the forum :gflower:

I cannot help in pointing you into the right direction, but I do think that creating new furniture out of the trees is a great idea!

Hopefully someone who can help will be along shortly

It a actually a good thing that they rot away. It put the nutrients, which they have 'stolen' from the indigenous species, back into the soil.

They also provide perfect homes and habitats for a wide variety of insects.

I think some of the wood is used to make furniture for schools etc, not sure if its from the Cape parks.

Let me ask around.
