Diseases In Kruger National Park

Unread postby coldoll63 » Tue Aug 27, 2013 11:53 pm

Hi. We spent 15 days in the Kruger National Park during the June/July school holidays. A week after coming home, my 10 year old son fell ill. It is now almost 6 weeks later, he is still ill & the doctors can't find out what's wrong ,despite tons of blood tests, scans, etc. Apart from Malaria, what other diseases have surfaced in the Kruger lately? Any help will be very greatly appreciated. Tks

Colddoll, I am so sorry to hear about your son's illness. :( A warm welcome to you non the less. :gflower:

Tick-bite fever is another high risk infection. The symptoms are headache, fever, listlessness. There seems to have been a lot of it lately. In actual fact someone who went on a recent walk with us came down with the illness. The treatment is the same as with Malaria and once started people respond well.
